THE CARS I'VE OWNED SO FAR - Ashwin Pinto - info@eslurf.com
The list is Chronological, Starting with my Newest car and going down to the first car I bought in 2003
People buy cars in their lifetime and never remember them afterwards, I wanted to have something to look back at for posterity.. :)
Bought SEPTEMBER 2007  -  2003 MITSBISHI ECLIPSE GTS

Right !!
So here's the story...... I just crossed 100k miles in the VW Passat and it being a german car and all, small nickel and dime stuff starts to happen. The engine is FINE mind you, but these cars do start getting costly to maintain after 100k miles. I really love it, but I do not want to be stranded on the highway at any point in the future...

So I sold it and bought a Mitsubishi Eclipse GTS. Leather Interior, feels and looks sporty, but still manages to give good fuel economy. So i guess that makes it my new Daily Driver. At this point, I own 3 cars.. The 77 Corvette, the 1999 Durango and now the 2003 Eclipse.

Not bad for a 32 year old guy...
I am not even close to my midlife crisis and I already have 2 sports cars.. :)

Bought MARCH 2007  -  Another 99 Dodge Durango SLT 4x4           :)

Always regretted selling my Previous Blue Dodge Durango in 2005...

So since I just bought a house and need a 4x4 SUV to carry stuff for the Back Yard and materials for house improvements stc, wife and I decided to buy another one. Since I love the old durango design so much, I decided to get another.
This SUV only drives around town and sometimes for groceries, never for commuting.. haha..

Here are some pics...

Bought JANUARY 2006  -  1977-C3 "Stingray" CORVETTE (classic car)

The last line of my PASSAT entry said "My next ride will be a sports car"... So here I am again 5 months later and feeling the pangs for another set of wheels. I always loved corvettes. It has been a dream of mine to own one since as long as I can remember. That dream finally came true in the last week of January when I 'casually' came across an ad on Craigslist for a student selling his C3 vette. I thought what the hell, let me go and see it. I wasn't serious about buying at the time. But the moment I saw it and he turned the key in the ingition, I was in love. Anyone can go out and buy a New Corvette with modern handling or a Merc SL, Honda S2000, Beemer or one of the other ricer cars available these days. But to own and maintain a Classic stingray takes guts, passion and a yearning to really enjoy the drive without having to turn on the radio to make up for the silence in the modern roadster interior.

What made me consider the car was the fact that the guy who owned it dropped in a Brand new (500 miles) GM Crate motor 350. All new wiring and electricals and muffler., and a new radiator. Transmission is 6000 miles old. Car has 77k miles total. The interior needs TLC (but I can do that over time). Wheels new, tires new. Paint semi new… And the sound.... It sounds great (deep rumbling growl) flowmaster exhaust. I hope to drive it from california to vegas sometime... when I have prepped it for long journeys. I will still keep the VW Passat as my daily driver though.

Bought AUGUST 2005  -  2000 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT GLX

Gas Prices have gone up, So I wake up one day and decide that 10-13 miles a gallon is too much for me, So I sell my Durango. I wanted to buy a Nissan Maxima, but my wife pursuaded me to have a look at the Passat instead. And boy was I impressed. Passat is not the first car that came to my mind when I thought of Volkswagen. But I got a great deal here. (AUDI A4 and PASSAT designed by the same folks looks like)

It is a 4 door Silver Passat GLX. V6, 2.8lt. FULLY LOADED. Black Leather seats, Seat warmers, 6-CD Changer, Wood Paneling on dash, Tiptronic 5 speed automatic, Sun Roof, Auto Climate Control, Really lovely sound system (Monsoon). It drives and handles like a beemer (Thumbs-Up for German Engineering). I really really like this one and the drive is just great. I plan on keeping this one as my daily driver for a long time. Best part is, It gives me an average of 28 Miles to the Gallon. Now my next ride will be a sports car.

I sold the Passat in September 2007 to buy the Eclipse...

Bought OCTOBER 2004  -  1999 DODGE DURANGO 4x4 SLT

Well, Its been a year and a half since I've been here and I had an itch to revert to an SUV (Never could forgive myself for selling the Jeep) So I finally sold my Intrepid sedan.. I decided on a 1999 Dodge Durango SLT 4x4. That makes it my third car in the last 1.5 years (Click a thumbnail for larger images)

Ok, some background on the durango... 5.9 liter engine, V8 Magnum (Turbo), around 300hp. Dark Blue with custom paint job. 4x4 all wheel drive. Nice big Good Year tires... new.. It is also fully loaded, with grey leather seats and seat warmers, plus a Satellite navigation system and CD player and MP3 player, plus sports package and a 500Watt speaker system (7 speakers). It has Leather seats and all the extra trimmings. Plus It can kick ass on the road with most other SUVs. It makes me feel great. Though it does love drinking Gas.

Bought SEPTEMBER 2003  -  1997 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO 4x4
Bought this 4x4 after living in the United States for 3 months in September of 2003, cash down. It was gorgeous. Sure it had 80k miles on it, but it belonged to this Paramedic girl who kept it in pristine condition. She even had the mechanics at the ambulance garage service it. It was jet black with all the bells and whistles. (Click a thumbnail for larger images) I really regretted selling the Jeep because it represented freedom for me. The very first car I paid for myself.

Bought JUNE 2003  -  2002 DODGE INTREPID SE SEDAN
My folks came with me on my birthday to pick this car up in June of 2003. I was so in love with it, mainly because it looked sporty and fantastic and handled really well, plus it was so large and comfy on the inside. I had a year and a half of good times in this car. It never once broke down or gave me any trouble. I would recommend an intrepid to anyone I know. I even put a 700Watt subwoofer in it. (Click a thumbnail for larger images). Had a SONY MP3 Player attached.
